Behind The Brand

I am Kristi Pohly, Owner and Designer, and a native to the beautiful state of Colorado.

My familial roots of my Pohly grandparents have continually pulled me to the genuine and pure western way of life. A way of living dedicated to hard work, family, and giving back.

To pay homage to the Pohly family name and way of life, I created the Pohly Hat Company.

My grandfather, Richard Alba Pohly, created a distinct cattle brand for our family ranch in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1950s. The cattle brand was a “Pole” with a capital letter “E” to represent our last name when branding the Santa Gertrudis cattle on the ranch. Grandpa Pohly also designed turquoise jewelry in Fredericksburg, Texas where he engraved each jewelry piece with the “Pole” “E” brand. You can see the Pohly brand on his belt buckle. The hat portion of the logo is from the symbol for “hat” in the cattle branding symbol alphabet.

Each Pohly Hat design pays tribute to memories of sweet times and amazing people.

Connections have always been important to me from my love of family, friends, my beloved four-legged best friend, Kaila, the outdoors, live music, and travel. As a floral designer, I have always incorporated my creative side (that I get from my mom) into my flower designs. Now, I strive to incorporate love and memories into each customized and personalized hat design as a wearable tribute for the wearer of the hat.

My pride, heart, and soul runs deep in representing our unique family name and the honest western way of life my grandparents were dedicated to and that my family lives each day.
